We’ll have a few posters signed by all of the bands to giveaway during the show! And plain ol’ posters without the band signatures available at the merch table for $2

FULL LINE UP ANNOUNCED! Summer People + if Madrid added Downstairs

Summer People

Summer People

Hailing from all over the Upstate and New York City areas, Summer People are a 5-piece (former 7-piece collective) whose music has been described as “eerie and expansive indie rock” with “post-punk and progressive impulses that explode in sonic freakouts lurking around each corner” [exploding in sound]. They have been quiet most of last year (in Albany at least; zero shows here)– after a big 2011 where they released a split EP Do It with HotChaCha, toured with Aficionado down to SXSW, and pressed their self-released sophomore album Teamwork to vinyl. Summer People are currently finished recording and are currently in the process of mixing their third full length album Burn the Germs; due out later this year.

Preview demo tracks from the album:

if Madrid

Summer People
From Binghamton, NY – if Madrid include former WCDB DJ (and Promotions Director) Liam Murphy and have previously graced the Valentine’s downstairs stage at last year’s 34th anniversary, and as an opener for our Wye Oak show in 2011. They just finished recording their debut full-length, a follow up to last year’s Funeral Porn EP. The album was recorded at the WCDB studios over a 3-day session in January 2012 (the first album to be mixed in WCDB’s newly built production studio); engineered and mixed by Barons in the Attic’s Dan Maddalone. The yet-to-be-titled album is coming out on B3nson Records and will be released next month – if Madrid will be celebrating their CD release party at our 35th birthday party! The CD will be available at the merch table (and will be one of the prize items, along with their debut EP, being given away between sets)
